  1. HOW DO I DOWNLOAD A PICTURE FROM A NEWSGROUP?

  3. In order to help you download a picture from a Usenet newsgroup, America
  4. Online has introduced a feature called FileGrabber.  Since newsgroups are
  5. text-based, anything more complex than simple text, like a picture, needs to
  6. be translated or encoded into text before it can be posted.  FileGrabber will
  7. automatically take the encoded text and return it to it's original form which
  8. you can then download.

  10. HOW DO I USE FILEGRABBER?
  11.  
  12. Using FileGrabber is as easy as reading a regular newsgroup posting.  Simply
  13. double click on the post you would like to read, and if the post contains any
  14. encoded text the FileGrabber window will pop up.  You can then specify
  15. whether you would like to download the file or not.  If you choose to
  16. download the file, FileGrabber will ask you where you would like the file
  17. downloaded (to which directory on your disk).

  19. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

  21. After telling FileGrabber where you would like to download the file, the
  22. download will start.  If the picture is a graphic type like GIF or JPG and if
  23. you are using America Online for Windows v 2.0 or version 2.5.1 for
  24. Macintosh, the graphic will be displayed immediately on your screen after the
  25. download completes.   The America Online software supports ART, GIF and JPEG
  26. graphic formats.  In addition, the Windows software supports the PCX and
  27. Windows Bitmap graphic formats.  The Macintosh software also supports the
  28. PICT format.  If you would like to learn more about viewing graphics and
  29. graphic formats, use Keyword QUESTIONS and click the "Viewing Graphics"
  30. button.
